3 Steps for School Enrollment

  1. 1

    Complete the School Enrollment Form

    Fill out the Site Coordinator Account Creation & School Enrollment. Usually available starting mid-August.

  2. 2

    Set Up Your Account

    Wait for a system email with your password. It will come from “noreply@lascifair.org” with the subject line “LA County Science Fair - New Account”. Log into the LACSEF portal and enter yours and your institution’s information. Deadline to enroll your school is mid-January.

  3. 3

    Submit Enrollment Fee or Waiver

    Download the School Enrollment Fee / Waiver Form and submit it with payment.

Site Coordinator Responsibilities

Site coordinators must be adults designated by school administrators or lab researchers at sponsoring institutions. They oversee student participation and ensure compliance with fair requirements. See the Site Coordinator 101 guide for full details.

Fall Responsibilities

  • check_circle Review Site Coordinator 101 Slideshow for any new updates
  • check_circle Submit School Enrollment Form (yearly)
  • check_circle Complete School Enrollment on LACSEF Portal
  • check_circle Have students submit the Intent to Participate form (one per project)
  • check_circle Submit Fee waiver or registration fees
  • check_circle Have students enroll on the LACSEF portal
  • check_circle Review Rules and Regulations regarding pre-approval requirements
  • check_circle Ensure students complete pre-approval forms if necessary
  • check_circle Oversee student research and monitor dashboard

January / February Responsibilities

  • check_circle Select projects representing your site at the fair
  • check_circle Guide students through online registration procedures
  • check_circle Approve participating projects and students
  • check_circle Ensure all approved students have received instructions for Virtual Submission and fair participation
  • check_circle Verify all required information is uploaded
  • check_circle Recruit fair volunteers and judges

March Responsibilities

  • check_circle Ensure students are aware of the Rules and Regulations regarding size of their project display
  • check_circle Ensure students are aware of what they can and cannot bring to the Fair to display
  • check_circle Ensure students know their project board MUST be set up on Sunday
  • check_circle Ensure students know they MUST be on-site for in-person interviews on Monday
  • check_circle Ensure students know they MUST remove their project boards and any displays at the end of judging
  • check_circle Encourage students to watch the Awards ceremony on March 21, 2027 at noon on YouTube
  • check_circle Encourage eligible students that are 1st and 2nd place (and possibly some 3rd place) winners to enter the California Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF)
  • check_circle Encourage eligible Middle School students to enter the Thermo-Fisher JIC
  • check_circle Encourage 11th graders to enter the Regeneron Science Talent Search
