Understanding SRC Results

As the Science Review Committee (SRC) evaluates projects, here's how to read each status in the online registration dashboard and what to do next.

Checking Your Status

As the SRC finishes reviewing projects, here’s some information to help you understand what the online registration system is “telling” you about the status of your proposal. (See Pre-Approval Overview slideshow here). Please check your dashboard REGULARLY to see if you need to take any action – such as remind your adult supervisor to check their email and “verify” your project.

Students: You can log into the system (app.lascifair.org) to see the status of your pre-approval form/project at any time. Please make sure you check the system by Nov 3, 2026 (if not sooner) to know whether you can begin experimentation or if you need to fix and re-submit your proposal.

Site Coordinators: You can log into the system (app.lascifair.org) and click on “Forms” to see the status of all of your students’ pre-approval forms. Make sure all the verifications for each student’s project have been completed.

All submissions must be evaluated by at least two reviewers.

Once you go online, here are the different things you might see:

Status Indicators

Submitted - Awaiting Verification

This means that 1 or more of the listed adults have not verified their role online. Ask the adults you listed to check their email and spam folder for an email from noreply@lascifair.org. If you know that an adult had a link that was no longer active or never received one, please email information@lascifair.org directly and we will manually send out the link.

Awaiting Level 1 Review

This means that the verifications are complete and that the project is waiting in the queue for one of the SRC members to review it.

Awaiting Level 2 Review

This means the 1st reviewer has either recommended acceptance or revision and the project is waiting for a 2nd reviewer. You can see the accept/revision designation if you open up your form and scroll towards the bottom. Once a 2nd reviewer reads the proposal, he or she can approve of it, not approve of it, or recommend that a 3rd person looks it over.

Accepted

Your proposal has been approved. You may now commence experimentation, UNLESS you have other pre-approval forms pending in our system.

Needs Revision

The 2nd (or 3rd, if needed) reviewer rejected the proposal. You have one opportunity to address all comments from both reviewers and resubmit before the deadline. PLEASE have your Site Coordinator review your changes and additions BEFORE you submit. Experimentation cannot begin without approval. The deadline to resubmit is Nov. 30, 2026.

Awaiting Level 3 Review

The second reviewer requested a third-party evaluation. That reviewer's decision is final.

Resubmission & Post-Approval Changes

Resubmitted projects follow the same review procedure as above. Level 2 (or 3) approval means the experiment may begin, UNLESS you have other Pre-approval forms pending in our system. The deadline to resubmit is Nov. 30, 2026.

After approval, editing access to your form is disabled. If you need to make changes to a previously approved project, email pre-approval@lascifair.org with a full explanation. The deadline to make changes to a previously approved research plan is Jan 8, 2027.

All decisions by the SRC Committee are Final.
